Does your product allow windows administrators
the ability do configure samba?
Yes. Administrators
with no Samba knowledge can configure Samba using
the MS Server 2003 interface.
Does your product
allow integration with Active directory?
Yes. InterStructures
provides complete interoperability between Linux servers
and Active Directory. A Linux File Server (Samba)
will authenticate a user in Active Directory
How is this different
from WebMin?
WebMin is a web based
management tool but you need to still understand Linux
in order to use it well. InterStructures is for Administrators
with no prior Linux experience. InterStructures has
all the functionality of WebMin and uses the better
'native' Windows UI and allows you to administer Linux
with Windows from the same console if you want.
Is InterStructures
a Linux distribution?
No. InterStructures
is a server administration platform, that works with
all the major Linux distributions (RedHat and Suse)
Our admins use Webmin
or Yast - is this any different?
RedHat and Suse offer
their own management and configuration tools such
as YAST and the open source community have developed
a management tool called Web-Min. All these tools
are a collection of disparate management tools from
the open source community. They do not have consistent
user interfaces. These tools do not give the ability
to manage a heterogeneous server environment of Linux
and Windows.
I use VNC to manage
Linux from Windows - how is this different?
VNC simply brings the
Linux desktop to a remote machine and one still needs
Linux expertise to manage Linux. With InterStructures
you do not need any Linux experience.
Can a Windows admin
take complete ownership of a Linux based network using
this product?
Yes. InterStuctures
allows windows administrators the ability to seamlessly
administer their Linux and Windows servers from the
same interface that they are used to using.
