F500 Consulting
Company
This company was an all MSFT shop for departmental
serving. Due to security issues, cost and vendor
lock in Linux was being evaluated for File, Print
and proxy serving to replace the current Microsoft
environment. While wanting to bring in Linux for
these functions the companies' evaluation found
that a lack of internal Linux skills was a barrier
to adopting Linux Company wide for these departmental
servers.
InterStructures was brought in solving the skills
set problem and lowering their initial TCO for Linux
by 35%. Linux administrators did the initial implementation
and then the existing Windows staff configured and
took over day-to-day management of the RedHat servers
without any training!
Mid Market
Packaging Manufacturer
This manufacturer with 12 locations worldwide evaluated
Linux to replace Microsoft Server 2000 for File,
Print, FTP, DNS, and DHCP. With multiple disparate
locations, a lack of Linux skills and the need to
integrate the Linux servers with Active Directory
at each the InterStructures platform was brought
in to help unify server management: Linux and Windows
managed from one central management console and
completely interoperable with Active Directory.
InterStructures has been implemented and now Linux
and windows servers are managed from the same console
and interoperating with Active Directory and significantly
lowering their Linux TCO and shortening the payback
period for Linux.
Local
Hospital
With a limited IT budget and increased security
a concern the hospital turned to Linux to provide
lower cost departmental and other servers while
increasing uptime and security. The IT Manager was
a Linux advocate but his staff consisted of all
Windows administrators, and he did not have the
budget to hire Linux engineers to manage his servers.
InterStructures solved his problems by allowing
his existing Windows staff without any additional
training to manage their Linux installation. The
hospital estimated a 40% cost savings by using Linux
with InterStructures.
